Privacy Policy
Last updated July 29, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information MCServerShare ("MCServerShare," "we," "us") collects when you use mcservershare.com (the "Service"), how we use it, and the choices you have.
1. Information We Collect
Account information: email address, username, and password (stored as a hash by our authentication provider, never in plain text).
Server listing information: if you list a server — its name, address, port, description, banner image, categories, website/Discord links, and (if you enable voter rewards) your Votifier host, port, and public key. A Votifier public key is designed to be shared publicly and is not sensitive.
Activity: votes (linked to your account if logged in, or to a one-way hash of your IP address if not — we never store raw IP addresses), hearts/favorites, and comments you post.
What we deliberately don't store:if you enter a Minecraft username to vote for a Votifier-enabled server, that username is kept only in your own browser's local storage and sent directly to that server at the moment you vote. It is never written to our database.
2. How We Use Information
- Operate the Service: display listings, calculate rankings, enforce one-vote-per-24-hours limits
- Send account emails (sign-up confirmation codes) via our email provider, Resend
- Relay vote notifications to a listed server's Votifier plugin when you vote for it with rewards enabled
- Respond to support requests and moderate reported content
- With your consent, measure site usage (Google Analytics) and show ads (Google AdSense)
3. Third-Party Services
We rely on the following services to run MCServerShare:
- Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage
- Vercel — hosting
- Resend — transactional email delivery
- mcstatus.io — we send a listed server's address/port to this third-party API to check whether it's online and how many players are connected
- Google Analytics — site usage analytics, only after you accept cookies
- Google AdSense — advertising, only after you accept cookies
If you vote for a server with voter rewards enabled, we also send your self-entered username directly to that server's owner (via their Votifier plugin). That is a notification to the server operator, not to us — we do not retain it.
4. Cookies & Local Storage
Essential (always on): a session cookie that keeps you logged in.
Local storage (always on):your cookie-consent choice, and — if you've voted before — your last-entered Minecraft username, so you don't have to retype it.
Analytics & advertising (only with consent): Google Analytics and AdSense cookies are set only after you choose "Accept all" in the cookie banner. Choosing "Essential only" keeps these disabled — the site works exactly the same either way.
5. Data Retention
Account, listing, vote, heart, and comment data is retained until you delete it or request account deletion. You can delete your own comments and your own listing at any time; hashed IP addresses used for anonymous vote cooldowns are not linked to any other personal information.
6. Your Rights
You can edit or delete your listing and comments directly from your account. To access, correct, or delete other personal information we hold about you — including full account deletion — email support@mcservershare.com and we'll process your request.
7. Children's Privacy
MCServerShare is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we'll remove it.
8. California Privacy Rights
If you are a California resident, you may have additional rights under the CCPA, including the right to know what personal information we hold about you and to request its deletion. Contact us at the email below to exercise these rights.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with an updated date.
