Add a Bedrock server on Windows, phone or tablet with the right address and port 19132, plus how consoles differ and how to fix connection errors.
Bedrock servers use two details
Unlike Java servers, a Bedrock server needs an address and a port. The default Bedrock port is 19132. If a listing shows a different number, you must type that number in the Port box; the game will not guess it. Servers that support both editions list a Bedrock address on their page, which can differ from the Java one.
Windows, mobile and tablet
- Open Minecraft (the Bedrock version, not Java) and press Play.
- Open the Servers tab.
- Scroll to the bottom and choose Add Server.
- Enter any Server Name, then the Server Address, then the Port.
- Save, select the server in the list and join.
Consoles: Xbox, PlayStation and Switch
Consoles do not have an Add Server button, so you cannot type in an address the way you can on a phone or PC. Console players can join the official featured servers shown in the Servers tab, and can join a friend who is already inside a server through Friends.
Some community tools exist that route a console to a custom server. They require changing your console's network settings and we cannot vouch for them, so treat them with care and never enter account details into a website that asks for them.
Java servers that allow Bedrock players
Many Java servers run a plugin called Geyser that lets Bedrock players connect. Servers set up this way are marked Java + Bedrock on MCServerShare and show a separate Bedrock address and port on their page. Gameplay can differ slightly because the two editions are not identical.
Common mistakes
- Using the Java address with the Java port. Bedrock uses its own port, usually 19132.
- Trying to join a Java-only server from Bedrock. Check the Edition shown on the listing first.
- Playing an older game version. Bedrock updates automatically, so make sure the game is fully updated.
Frequently asked questions
How do I add a server in Minecraft Bedrock?
Open Minecraft, go to Play, then Servers, scroll down and choose Add Server. Enter a name, the server address and the port, save it and join from the list.
What is the default Minecraft Bedrock port?
19132 (UDP). Bedrock needs the port entered separately from the address, unlike Java where the default port is assumed.
Can Xbox, PlayStation and Switch join custom Bedrock servers?
Consoles have no Add Server button. Console players can join a friend who is already on a server, or join the official featured servers shown in the Servers tab.
Why does Bedrock say Unable to connect to world?
Usually the port is wrong, the server is offline, UDP is blocked, or your game version does not match the server. Check the port and update your game.
