About roleplay servers

Roleplay servers add story to the build-and-explore loop. You play a character in a town, kingdom or setting, with jobs, laws, factions and plot lines run by staff and players. Some follow a fantasy or historical setting, others are modern cities, schools or survival tales with set rules.

These communities tend to be small and tight. Many need an application before you can join, and expect you to stay in character in the main world. If you enjoy acting, writing and worldbuilding, you will find that the Minecraft side is almost secondary.

What to look for in a roleplay server

  • A clear setting and rules for how to roleplay.
  • An application or onboarding process that suggests a committed community.
  • Regular events and story arcs run by staff.
  • Voice chat or Discord activity if the community uses it.
